Al Azhar Trading Co. LLC was initially setup to provide procurement and logistic               support to operation of its Subsidiary Sales International UK Limited the concession holders of:

• Duty Free Paradise (Down Town Duty Free Shops in Male’ Rep. of Maldives)

•  Satellite Airport Restaurant (Hulule International Airport, Male’ Rep. of Maldives)

• Rehandi First & Business Class Lounge (Hulule International Airport, Male’ Rep. of Maldives)

• Apex Duty Free (Departure & Arrival Halls Hulule International Airport, Male’ Rep. of Maldives)

• Seagull Airways (Inter Island Helicopter Service, Male’ Rep. of Maldives)

After establishing itself in the field of procurement, and logistic support to its own subsidiaries, the management and staff of Al Azhar Trading Co. LLC started to expand and become one of the main procurement agencies for the largest trader in Singapore M/S Ng Chye Mong Pte Ltd. for foodstuff, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, dry fruits, perfumes and cosmetics, writing instruments and watches.

The area of operation was not limited to the Far East. Al Azhar Trading Co. LLC would procure goods from Europe, China, India, GCC and United States and re-export to as far as Japan and Taiwan in the Far East, Western and Eastern Europe and Canada.

During this period one of the leading International Construction Companies D S Constructions, New Delhi India appointed l Azhar Trading CO. LLC as their procurement agents for the projects in Libya. Now was the time for Al Azhar Trading Co. LLC to diversify to other than FMCG products, the construction industry demanded sourcing of building material, earth moving equipment and machinery, material handling equipment, motor vehicles etc.

One avenue after the other and expertise in procurement and logistic support lead Al Azhar Trading Co. LLC to being appointed as sales consultants/agents for leading manufacturers from India for non-traditional business in the Middle East, and Northern Africa.

Raymond Ltd is largest integrated manufacturer of fabric in the world based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, appointed them as their sole agents and distributors for all their products, for the Russia Federation and former USSR, Adriatic and Caspian region.

During this period the world witnessed the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq and the first Gulf war followed by the Second. This resulted in strict sanctions being imposed on Iraq and an embargo on trade.

Since we had the knowledge and expertise in procurement and logistic support, we were approached by various Industrial houses from India, Italy and Europe to provide consultancy and ground support for supplies to Iraq under the United Nations Oil for Food Programme.

Al Azhar Trading Co. LLC assisted and provided logistic support to almost a dozen companies operating and supplying goods and service to Iraq under the United Nations Oil for Food Programme.

Being on ground in Iraq it gave us an insight of the UN Peace Keeping Forces and the Field Mission Operations, and their procurement requirements.

Once the Oil for Food Programme was scraped by the United Nations Al Azhar Trading Co. LLC started its Mission to register as a vendor with various UN agencies and Peace Keeping Missions.

Al Azhar Trading Co. LLC then partnered with PCP International Limited and had assisted them to register as a vendor with UNPD and various UN Peacekeeping Missions, since 1994 and until 2010

During this period the team and management of Al Azhar Trading Co. LLC. Was able to secure   systems contracts with UNPD for the following goods and services:

2. Generating Sets Contract No. PD/C0098/03

3. Concertina Wire Contract No. PD/0060/05

4. Spare Parts for Kirloskar Generators Contract No. PD/C0096/6
